OUR ETHICS & SUSTAINABILITY
NIKKO is comfortable, timeless and designed to be lived in. Our wearers tell us that NIKKO pieces are ‘feel good’ favourites, this means you receive great value per wear for slow, sustainable fashion.
MINIMUM PLANET IMPACT AND ETHICAL PEOPLE PRACTICES
We know exactly who makes our garments, the conditions and workplace ethics. NIKKO wouldn’t be NIKKO without our beautiful Balianese maker family. Let us introduce you to our dear friends who we have collaborated with and loved since 2009.
Making conscious choices about what we consume has never been as important. Balianese life is rich with culture, ceremony and community.
All the things Though we haven’t been able to spend time together recently due to travel restrictions, part of NIKKO always resides with our Balianese family who inhabit a big heart space; Antu and his wife Irma are fundamental in the process of bringing you beautifully handcrafted garments and accessories. Behind the sawing machine the 2 amazingly talented boys Faris and Miftaqul sit, they put all their love and care in each of the pieces.
“ I feel this relationship with my team in Bali is much more than working together. It is about taking care of each other, learning from each other culture and growing stronger together with our creations. It feels good to know when you purchase a NIKKO product you are supporting the right people.”
We choose responsibly, using only fabrics from nature: modal, hemp, bamboo, linen, organic cotton and rayon. Accessories, knits and leather garments are also made by hand.
Our packaging is recycled – plastic bags are not used in the transportation of our garments at any point. You receive your NIKKO garments in a beautiful cotton bag, which you can reuse again and again. Because we are small batch and have a loyal following, there is little leftover at the end of each season. If you are lucky you might find some of the last items on sale!
